There’s a new reason to visit Hobart: the MONA FOMA Festival of Music and Art, to be curated by Brian Ritchie of the Violent Femmes, launching in 2009. MONA FOMA (short for Museum of Old and New Art, Festival of Music and Art) will be centred around the MONA’s home in the Morilla vineyard, as well as in other hip locations across the Tasmanian capital. Headlining the musical part of the event will be Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, with guests The Saints, for the first time ever in Tassy. Kit & Kaboodle, the top floor soiree at the new Sugarmill hotel, has been busy nabbing a killer line-up for its debut New Year’s Eve event.
